In accordance with Part IV of the NTEU Bylaws, this is the Official Notice for Nominations and
Election of Officers for Chapter 66. Chapter 66 will hold a secret ballot election on October 21, 2023 for the following offices: President, Executive Vice President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary and Treasurer.
The term of the above offices commences after the ballots are tallied on October 21, 2023 and ends on September 30, 2026. The elected President and Vice Presidents, who are elected at-large shall serve as delegates to the National Convention
Any member wishing to nominate a candidate for these offices must submit his/her nominations in writing. Nominations must be submitted by email only via personal (non-government) email and should include the attached nomination form or include all information that would otherwise be included in the form in the email message. Nominations must be received by the Chair of the Election Committee at the following email address,Chapter66.election2023@gmail.com, no later than 5:00 PM on September 8, 2023. Nominations by phone or personally delivered will not be accepted.
Only those members who joined Chapter 66 on or before July 1, 2023, are eligible to nominate candidates and vote in this election.Individuals who are considered supervisors under the Federal Labor Management Relations Statute and individuals who submitted 1188s will not be allowed to nominate candidates, run for office or vote in this election. Any member nominating a candidate, including him/herself, must identify him/herself.
Self-nomination is permitted.
All candidates must be a member in good standing of Chapter 66 as of July 1, 2023.
Any member of this Chapter (except an employee who under the provisions of the Federal Labor Management Relations Statute is considered a supervisor and, therefore, ineligible to participate orrepresent this Chapter as an officer) may be elected to any office. The Election Committee will notify all candidates in writing of their nomination.
Each nominee, except those who are self-nominated, must submit a written acceptance to run for office to the Chair via personal (non-government) email no later than 5:00 PM on September 15, 2023. The email or scanned form should contain the same language and information as contained in the attached Acceptance Form. The email address is Chapter66.election2023@gmail.com. An individual may run for only one office. If nominated for multiple offices, a nominee may accept for only one office. If a candidate is unopposed, there shall be no necessity for the election of such nominee, and he/she shall be declared duly elected.
THE ELECTION
The Election will be conducted by mail referendum ballot on October 21, 2023. Write-in candidates are not allowed. Candidates or one appointed observer may be present at all phases of the election.
Ballots will be mailed on September 26, 2023.
Members who do not receive a ballot before October 9, 2023should make a request for a duplicate ballot to the Chair, Sterling Price, at an NTEU table that will be set up outside the IRS Campus cafeteria on Main Street on October 9, 2023 between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Members can also make a request for a duplicate ballot by emailing the Chair on or before October 9, 2023 at the email address for the election which isChapter66.election2023@gmail.com. You must include your full name and telephone number in the email request.
Members who will not be at their current address during the Election should make a written request for absentee ballots to the Chair, Sterling Price. The written request must be received at the email address for the election which is Chapter66.election2023@gmail.com no later than 5:00 PM on September 22, 2023. Requests must include the address to which the absentee ballot should be mailed, the member’s current address and telephone number.
Ballots must be received by 11:00 AM on October 21, 2023 at P.O. Box 411838, Kansas City, MO 64141 and will be picked up at that time from the Union Station Kansas City, MO post office. The ballots will then be tallied at the IRS Kansas City Campus multi-purpose room located next to the cafeteria, beginning at 12:00 NOON on October 21, 2023. The candidate receiving a plurality of votes for each office shall be declared the winner.
